In this day and age, people trust companies less - particularly when they tout empty promises that have no reflection on their mission statement. And I know for me, if I'm traveling, no matter where I'm going, I look at blogs first to get the inside scoop. People have no point in lying about their travel experience, and so when good things happen, bloggers will share that too.

Maria:

Very well said. I thought about the Google Alerts as well when I wrote the blog post and I was surprise that I didn't hear from someone at Air Canada. I guess there are so many coming through that they can't keep up with the load. Luckily I'd been to Tokyo and managed to find another stranded business traveller to collaborate with on a solution (we were one of the last flights in and it was Spring Break so all of hotels anywhere near the airport were booked).

The part I didn't remember to put in the blog post is that Air Canada knew before we left Seoul to fly to Tokyo that we would not be able to fly home through Tokyo. Had they told us this we could have avoided Tokyo and flown home through Seoul (it's a direct flight to YVR).

Cheers,
Mike
